Week 9 |
Day 1 | | (Originally posted Sunday, February 23, 2014)
Overview Jeremiah 9:1-26 - "When God Tears Up". As you read through Jeremiah 9 this week, remember that like any parent, when Yahweh deals out discipline, He hurts, too. |
Day 2 | | (Originally posted Monday, February 24, 2014)
Jeremiah 9:1-6 - "When Yahweh Cries Through You". As we read today's portion, we get a message in stereo, as the pain we hear from Jeremiah's tenor is a Yahweh-originated and inspired sentiment. This reading experience is helpful to us in reading any Scripture and understanding it had a dual authorship, authored by God and by the human author that wrote it. Christians experience this at various times personally; their thoughts and words come through perfectly with perfect timing and tone, meeting an immediate need, bringing glory to God. |
Day 3 | | (Originally posted Tuesday, February 25, 2014)
Jeremiah 9:7-9, 10-11 - "Just Deserts". As we read today, we can know there is a connection between disingenuousness and habitability. |
Day 4 | | (Originally posted Wednesday, February 26, 2014)
Jeremiah 9:12-16 - "Asked And Answered" or "A Teaching Moment". As we read today's portion, let's appreciate the privilege we have to be given a question AND a swift and straightforward answer from Yahweh God. It's a behind-the-scenes look into His process. Paying attention now is far more economical than payment made later. |
Day 5 |
| (Originally posted Thursday, February 27, 2014)
Jeremiah 9:17-22 - "Rough Mourning". Today's reading is better understood in our culture if we think of Yahweh God saying, "Let's have a funeral service." It's not cheerful, but it is revealing and instructive. In his time, no one listened to the words Jeremiah spoke, the words from God, yet this record of them is preserved to this day. Perhaps we will listen. |
Day 6 | | (Originally posted Friday, February 28, 2014)
Jeremiah 9:23-24, 25-26 - "Sacred Swagger". As we read today, consider that as a rule it is ill-advised to brag about anything, but Yahweh God is exceptional. |
Day 7 | | (Originally posted Saturday, March 1, 2014)
Review Jeremiah 9:1-26 and REST in the wisdom that when Yahweh tears up, He is often making preparation to seed, grow and harvest. Patience. |
