Straight From The Source's Mouth

Sources are given authority not because of what they know, but because of what they show. Likewise, the words of Jesus Christ have authority not only because of what He stated, but because of what He demonstrated.

Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends," (John 15:13). Those words are wonderful coming out of any mouth, but from the mouth of Jesus Christ they are more than words because He lived them out. He continued, "You are My friends, if you do what I command you," (John 15:14).

Jesus said, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up," (John 2:19b). This is ridiculous rhetoric out of any other mouth, but because Jesus Christ said what He meant and did what He said, those words are redemptive reassurance.

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the Light of life." (John 8:12b). Outreach begins within. You must let the Light in before you can let the Light out; you must be enlightened before you can shine. Jesus said, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven," (Matthew 5:16).

Jesus said, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore..." (Matthew 28:18bff). We have our instructions. To talk is cheap, to walk is steep; let's count the cost and tell the lost of Jesus Christ, who for us all was crucified and rose again after He died, and ascended to heaven to come again; and God's people said--"Amen."

Jesus said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men," (Matthew 4:19b). What do you say? What will you do?? Let every day be a red-letter day, through and through.
