My name is Heart, I'm a little tree.
I live in a garden that completely surrounds me.
Each day when I wake up I look all around
And see all the fruit that gloriously abounds.
My feet are secure in the soil beneath.
I rest in the nurture of the Gardener's peace.
All the things that I need are abundantly supplied.
I love growing here where my friends all reside.
The garden is long and the garden is wide
And there is such variety from every side.
In one place there's short trees with wondrous leaves,
Another has tall trees and canopies you wouldn't believe.
In places there're flowers shouting with joy
That show all the colors the Gardener's employed.
In others aromas that fill the air.
To fill all your senses and cause you to stare.
Above and below and everywhere,
The garden is planned to show that the Gardener is there.
He cares for the young and cares for the old
And touches the lives of every soul.
His hands are steady and never at rest;
He has such an eye for the very best.
He works night and day to help all to grow;
He knows what it takes, He's never too slow.
I watch Him at work on all His creations
He looks, He watches, He nurtures without reservation.
He digs, He waters, He's so careful to nourish;
To make each soul in His care to bountifully flourish.
He's invested His all and nothing He's spared;
His life for each one He gives, so don't you be scared.
He loves with a passion all He has made.
His hope for your soul is all to be saved.
I watch Him come near to all plants and trees;
He touches, caresses, and tenderly sees
Every condition of leaf and branch.
His eyes do not miss and nothing by chance.
My own leaves and branches to me are so dear,
I never could think of departing without a tear.
My comfort they give me as I daily recline
In the Gardener's garden where all is divine.
And one day the Gardener came to me;
He looked at my life and all He could see.
He made sure my roots were grounded in Him;
He watered and watched, inspecting each stem.
He looked at my fruit and glowed with a smile
And touched all my leaves so pleased all the while.
He thought for a moment and knew what was best;
He wanted my fruit to abundantly bless.
The Gardener knew how to grow MUCH more fruit,
He's trained OH so many, what a fine group.
He care is eternal, His ways are secure.
He stands like a Rock, His love will endure.
He trains all our branches with a heavenly plan
And knows the result is all in His hand.
His name to be known in all the earth,
His vision is this, that all have new birth.
My branch, my fruit, I thought they were mine.
I had all the future secure in my mind.
It seems like the Gardener already knew
That we had some difference...He knew what to do.
My thoughts and my actions showed fear from the heart
Yet I knew that the Gardener was close from the start.
To take from my branches according to plan,
The Gardener saw great things to grow from His hand.
I wanted to say: "Please not that branch,"
But He knew exactly just how to advance.
He took from my trunk some things I thought dear,
He held me and told me, "You don't have to fear."
"I'm here to help you become more like Me
So others can know Me and surely be free
The price that it takes to grow and mature
Is worth every second so boldly endure."
His plan is so grand and His love is so wide,
You'll never imagine; only abide.
In His holy Word it's plainly spoken
To all in the garden who know they are broken.
So let Him come near and do what is best;
Just trust Him, the Gardener, you'll surely be blessed.
The fruit that you have now cannot compare
With all that He has to freely share.
If branches you have are dead with no life,
He takes them and prunes to take away strife.
The water He gives you will make you strong;
So stay close to the Gardener, it's where you belong.
He'll always be with you to show the way;
He'll never leave you or go away.
His name is Jesus, He died on a tree,
To pay for sins to set us all free.
Please trust Him and follow wherever He goes
And do whatever He teaches and shows.
You'll not be sorry for how He works;
The garden is just where He does His best work.
