It Is WELL With My Soul:
- Warm-up: What Do You Want On Your Headstone? - Have learners fill out cards that resemble headstones with their own names, birthday, deathday(?), and memorable quote
- Exercise: Foundational Scriptures: Have learners in turn look up and read Matthew 28:6, Isaiah 53:12, John 11:25, Romans 10:9, Galatians 2:19, 20, and Ephesians 2:1
- Lesson: Dead Rising (1 of 5): Denial
- Introduction to Dead Rising: In this 5-part study, we will examine mainly First Corinthians chapter 15, AKA "The Resurrection Chapter" in remembrance of Easter, AKA Resurrection Day, the most important of all holidays for Christians. Our main focus in this study is to mourn the passing of ourselves... If people are not Christians, then they are dead in their trespasses and sins (see EF2.1); if they are Christians, then it is no longer they that live, but Christ that lives within them (See GL2.19, 20). As such, we must mourn our own passings in order to carry on and carry out the work that the Father has prepared for us in Christ. There are 5 steps in the process of grieving: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. These five steps will be our stepping stones for going through our study of the Resurrection.
- First Corinthians 15:1-11 -- The Resurrection Is An Historical Fact Of Reality
- First Corinthians 15:12-19 -- To Deny The Resurrection Is To Deny Our Own Faith
- Life application: As Christians, our faith, our hope and our Love are all founded on the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. Just because our faith in Him and in His Resurrection may seem to defy logic, this does not make them untrue. This is a basic point of reason that we must grasp in order to properly serve our Master Jesus: It is okay to defy logic, it is not okay to deny Him. Let us pray.
